Comic conventions have evolved into an essential aspect of the comic book experience, allowing readers to meet their favorite artists, purchase a wide variety of comic book items, and socialize with other comic book enthusiasts.
With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising cases, forums decided to organize the events virtually for their audiences. Below is the list of 5 Comic Cons that were functioned effectively on an online platform.

Pop Culture Forum

Pop-Culture Forum (PCF), Comic-Con India’s top Industry Award, has long been the famous and recognized conference known for the extraordinary talent and minds in pop culture. The event features entertaining panels covering a wide range of themes, including comics, public dialogue, entrepreneurship, and consumer trends. PCF 2020 is going virtual this year. Everyone is welcomed to attend the two-day digital event. The event usually takes place in July.

San Diego Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con

SDCC is the first to host an entirely online event. While con-goers won’t be squeezing past each other on the floor of the San Diego Convention Center, they will be able to watch the performance from the comfort of their homes in their pajamas. You don’t need a badge or a unique code to check out. All you need is a YouTube account. The festival takes place for four days in July.

WorldCon New Zealand

WorldCon: The annual science fiction (and fantasy) convention, which takes place in a different location each year, is planned in New Zealand in August. Because of pandemic worries, the 78th World Science Fiction Convention organizers have decided to make it a virtual event. The event will go up to five days from July to August.

DC Fandom

‘DC Fandom,’ a 24-hour virtual fan event, is hosted by Warner Bros. The free global event will immerse fans in the DC Multiverse for 24 hours at DCFanDome.com, with new announcements from WB Games, Film and TV, and comics, as well as an unprecedented opportunity to hear from the casts and creators of your favorite feature films and TV programs. The event will go on throughout the entire month of August.

#SaveDareDevil Con

The organizers of the #SaveDaredevil movement will stage #SaveDaredevilCon in conjunction with SDCC, or San Diego Comic-Con. The virtual event will focus on Man Without Fear, the character’s Netflix show, and related properties. In addition, to live roundtable conversations, the cast and crew of the critically acclaimed Netflix series will participate in pre-recorded panels. The festival takes place in July for three days.

Since we are unable to travel and work, the number of online events has increased. Interacting and meeting virtually has become critical, whether in the context of a one-on-one meeting, live presentation, or a combination of all of these. Virtual Events are the answer to many of the problems caused by COVID-19.
While the COVID-19 epidemic stopped “conventional” comic conventions for much of 2020 and early 2021, organizers are slowly resuming in-person events. Following the benefits of online events to offline events, we will discuss the in-person events scheduled.

Online Events

Whether or not CORONA started, digital events have always offered a significant benefit that can assist firms in increasing worldwide engagement, connection, and revenue. Online events allow you to save both time and money. It all starts with not having to travel to a venue, not having to reserve any lodging or transportation, and not spending time setting up. Virtual conferences do not require hospitality or other forms of housing; thus, the event organizer will save money. It is more environmentally friendly because no travel is necessary. It is more convenient, and one may complete more work in a shorter amount of time.

Offline Events

Offline Events

Naturally, where there are benefits, there are also drawbacks. Offline events are more personal online ones since there is more in-person interaction. When an event is well-organized, it holds the audience’s attention, making an in-person event more enjoyable. Rather than attending an event with a few well-known persons and then departing the virtual meeting, participants get to communicate with one another.

In-person Events Scheduled

Few forums has organized events and conferences for people of all ages and professions that follow the COVID-19 guidelines. The following are some of the events that are going to take place:

Smoke ‘N’ Spurs Festival – A tradeshow and consumer fair in Powassan

Canmore Highland Games- A tradeshow and sports-related event held in Centennial Park, Canmore
Creston Valley Fall Fair- An event related to arts and crafts Creston & District Community Complex, Creston
Saskatoon Entertainment Expo- An expo related to toys in Prairieland Park, Saskatoon, Canada
Rotary District 7010 Conference- A business conference in Timmins

Spurs Festival

The above is only a sample of the events that are being planned. If you feel confident enough to attend an in-person event, you may do so, but only if you follow COVID-19 safety guidelines.
It goes without saying that virtual events are far less personal than in-person events. Connecting with people online isn’t the same as doing so in person. However, given the current state of COVID and the inconvenient nature of travel, online events may still be worth considering. However, few forums have decided to hold in-person gatherings because the situation appears to be improving.

Every place has its own way of entertaining its people. While Canadians spend a lot of time outside participating in sports and going on adventures, they also spend a lot of time indoors watching colorful displays. The average Canadian enjoys movies, music, and television shows in their spare time. It can also apply to a foreign pop-culture product that has a significant “Canadian connection,” such as a Canadian actor, director, or artist, that makes it stand out in the eyes of Canadians.
We have curated a list of events which you can enjoy.

Smoke ‘N’ Spurs Festival – Labour Day Weekend

Bareback Bronc Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Jr. Bull Riding, Team Roping, Tie-down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Jr. Barrel Racing, Ladies Breakaway Roping, and “the world’s most dangerous sport…BULL RIDING!” are among the Professional Rodeo Events featured at this event. Cowboys, cowgirls, clowns, acts…something there’s for everyone!

Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival

Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival

The Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival is held in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, hosted by a non-profit organization. Hot air balloons of all shapes and colors are flown, and 300 exhibitions and performances totaling over 60 hours of programming are presented. Typically, about 200,000 people and 1,000 RVs attend. It takes place over four days during Labor Day Weekend in late August and early September.

Ottawa Comiccon

Sci-fi, horror, anime, video games, board games, and comic books are all represented at this pop-culture enthusiast gathering. Don’t put it off any longer; purchase your tickets online now. There are many variations of the convention. However, the vast majority have been altered somehow, whether by inserted humor or randomized words that don’t look even remotely credible.

Festival International de Jazz de Montreal

For nearly 40 years, the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal has been synonymous with a passion for music. The French-speaking city of North America has become the platform where fans of all jazz-related music rub hands with purists of jazz.

Festival International de Jazz de Montreal

Carp Fair

The Carp Fair, Canada’s Best Little Fair, offers a fun-filled day in the country. You’ll find something for everyone with excellent music, great entertainment, and a massive midway. Feel the rush of all the twists, turns, and tumbles in the middle. Live music, world-class horse shows, President’s Choice SuperDogs, and our very own Rodeo are just a few of the attractions. Your kids will be giddy with delight in the Family Circle tent, which features magic performances and puppets, or at the Ag Tent, which includes a petting zoo and other activities.

Red & White Calgary Comic & Toy Expo

Comics, toys, manga, role-playing games, and much more are available at the Red & White Calgary Comic & Toy Expo, which is annually at the Red & White Club in Calgary, Canada. There will be a silent auction, an artist alley, and a costume contest.

Do comic con and pop culture just serve as entertainment in society? This is something one should ponder upon!

Pop Culture and Comic Con: Unifying People

Pop culture has a wide range of effects on society. The first and most basic consequence of pop culture is fostering and strengthening relationships with others who share similar interests—pop culture celebrations, such as Comic-Con, helps to develop ties between people of various backgrounds. As a result, pop culture serves as a unifying force for young people all across the world. Even for those unfamiliar with comic book culture or related topics, similar gatherings have proven to be extremely popular.

Contribution to the Society

Fans can meet other individuals who share their interests, engage with popular content creators, get sneak peeks at new material, and buy items at these events. They also present an opportunity for local hospitality sectors to cater to these growing fan bases, potentially generating significant cash.

Comic Events and its success

Comic events have been increasingly commercialized over time. This is great news for comic book lovers and the industries they support, but it also means a lot of money for the local tourism industry. Local businesses of all kinds benefit financially from comic conventions. San Diego Comic-Con 2019, for example, attracted 135,000 visitors, affecting restaurants, retailers, motels, shops, and other companies.

Meanwhile, the annual New York Comic Con brings more than $100 million to the local economy. Even smaller gatherings, such as Phoenix Fan Fusion (previously Phoenix Comic-Con), can have a significant economic impact; one convention pulls in over $5 million annually.

The amount of glitz and glam that one can find at a convention is enormous. You could miss a star or two if you blink your eyes. Pop culture has progressed to the point where you may feel out of touch if you don’t keep up with the latest trends. It’s important to remember that pop culture and comic conventions aren’t simply for fun. It allows people to meet and share their ideas. Some event organizers donate a portion of their profits to charitable organizations. As a result, people are not only investing in the sector of entertainment but also in developing society.

Due to the global pandemic, many prominent events have been postponed or canceled, leaving fans with little to look forward to in the coming months. While fans may not be able to attend the major events this year, there is some good news for all pop culture fans out there.

If their signature is part of a package, Unity Events will do its best to offer other guests’ autograph(s) instead, but as cancellations often occur at the last minute, Unity Events is not obligated to do so.
